Bytown Catering has always been a strong supporter of the local community. As a locally owned and operated independent business we understand the importance of participating in and contributing to the development of a strong community. The following are some examples of our community development and community support activities:
Operating with a Social Conscious
We hire a diverse workforce and provide good working conditions and fair pay. We also provide employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
The awards and recognition Bytown Catering have received have a significant component based on how we treat our employees and our contributions to the community. Two awards in particular recognize our positive and forward-thinking employment practices:
Golf Tournament
For 10 years we have planned, organized and hosted a Bytown Catering golf tournament to raise funds for charity. Over that time we have raised approximately $40,000. Last year we raised $5,000 for charity and donated it to the St. Joseph Supper Table and the ALS Society.
St. Joseph Supper Table and St. Joseph Women’s Centre
In addition to raising funds through our golf tournament, Bytown Catering provides ongoing support to the St. Joseph Supper Table, including their Annual Quality of Life Gala. Bytown Catering President Steve Lachance sits on the charity’s Advisory Committee.
Sponsorship and support for fundraising events
Some of the fundraising events we have provided support to include:
Ottawa Gala – Breakfast Program
CHEO BBQ, Optimists Club Lobster Dinner
For the Love of the Bloom
Numerous charity golf tournaments including Kids Come 1st
St. Joseph’s Women’s Centre (Quality of Life Gala and Fashion Show)
We also provide support to many smaller fundraising efforts including United Way events, Haiti Relief efforts, and student-run events.
